Child-Led Speech and Language Services

With over 15 years of experience, I offer highly personalized support for your child’s communication development, in your home or my clinic.

IS YOUR CHILD....

Delayed in developing functional communication?

Struggling in school with classroom instructions or literacy skills?

Having difficulty developing clear speech skills?

I am here to help!

About Me

I am an experienced speech-language pathologist that has worked with children with a wide range of speech, language, literacy and communication needs.

I spent 15 years working with the Thames Valley District School Board and have extensive knowledge of the school system and how to support children and families while they navigate their learning years.

I also have additional training in many areas, including supporting minimally-speaking children with the development of functional communication skills. This can be through a combination of building verbal communication, alternative and augmentative communication (low tech and high tech) and a Gestalt Language Processing approach to language development.

My Services

My services include assessment and therapy. You can also start with a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your child’s needs and the type of support you feel would be best.

Assessment

Review of your child's speech, language, or literacy development, development history, and communication skills.

How does it work?

An initial assessment session will entail reviewing developmental history, how your child currently communicates and any concerns you have with their speech, language, communication or literacy development. I may also do a combination of observation, direct play and formal assessment with your child to determine their current level of skills. A direct verbal feedback of assessment results will be shared at the end of the session and we will determine goals for ongoing therapy together.

Therapy

Child-led therapy sessions follow your child's interests, what they prefer to play with, and how they feel most comfortable.

How does it work?

My therapy sessions are always child-led; I will follow your child’s lead in their interests, what they want to play with and how they feel most comfortable completing the session. This can look like their choice of game at a table or playing on the floor with their favourite toy while we work on their goals. Following your child’s lead will provide the most positive and productive therapy sessions. It also is a great way for me to build rapport with your child through our work together; once they feel comfortable with me, they will be most available to learn new skills! Sessions are 30-45 minutes in length, depending on what is the best fit for your child.
